Continuous Faculty Retooling for Teaching Flexible Learning with Tagoloan Community College
July Fridays means USTP-CiTL and Tagoloan Community College teaming up for capability training on Continuous Faculty Retooling for Teaching Flexible Learning.
USTP, USEP collaborate for Conceive-design-implement-operate training
Basic CDIO training with the University of Southeastern Philippines ( USeP) was a 9-day training held last July 5-8, and July 12-16, 2021 via Zoom. Advancing CDIO Training on the other hand focused on evaluating the existing programs and identify areas where CDIO can be applied, evaluating the alignment of the teaching and learning activities to the outcomes of the programs, creating a plan on the application of CDIO teaching and learning activities in the class, and creating a sustainability plan in applying CDIO in the programs.

As the Learning Continuity Review Program (LCRP) nears its implementation, focal persons were given a training on Efficient Uploads to Question Bank Using Gift and Aiken Format last June 28, 2021.

CiTL Preps for ISO
In full support to the university, CiTL staff, headed by their Director Dr Amphie Dinagsao, ready for the ISO surveillance visit on April 28-29, 2021.
As practiced, CiTL staff maintains soft copies of their files via Google Drive, hold weekly meetings and conduct quarterly consultations with the Director. Moreover, the center practices continuous improvement by empowering their staff and allowing them to suggest, and plan out processes that make the center's services better.
CiTL Facilitates Magsaysay College Curriculum Planning
Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning continues its services as it welcomed and assisted Magsaysay College (MC) during their curriculum development activity held at USTP last April 14,15, &16, 2021.
During the event, Engr Rojien Morcilla gave a talk and emphasized the process with OBE Framework on revising the curriculum, while Engr Bronson Mabulay, Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, shared on the Entrepreneurship Program of USTP.
CET Trains for Design Thinking
The USTP-Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology ( CET) underwent the Design Thinking Training last April 13-14, 2021. The training, attended by 10 persons from CET, was aimed mainly to equip their personnel in innovative teaching and learning. As CET offers bootcamps, lecture series, pitching activities and other related activities, Design Thinking is one excellent framework that can assist them in furthering their mandate.
Mentors and Mentee Converge for the First Ever Faculty Mentoring Session

Like a seed awaiting to be watered, the seed of innovation sprouts among the tenacious Design Thinking mentees from the College of Technology as they met with their mentor counterpart last April 12, 2021. The activity is designed to provide a venue for collegial mentoring--coaching sharing. Also, during this activity, both mentors and mentees determined how the Design Thinking can be applied in the teaching and learning activities in the courses and programs and also create the action plan.
Learning Continuity Review Program Kicks Off
Students have always been a salient factor in the improvement of programs as well as in an institution's continuous quality improvement. And in alignment to the strategic goal of USTP, which is to increase our ratings in board exams as well as its efforts for continuous quality improvement of the programs that ensure students are skill-ready for their future careers, CiTL facilitates the implementation of the Learning Continuity Review Program (LCRP).
Surigao State College of Technology : Retooling Faculty for Flexible Learning

CITL team held a webinar series of Continuous Faculty Retooling on Teaching Flexible Learning via Zoom Application last March 24, 25, and 26, 2021 to the faculty of Surigao State College of Technology. The webinar hoped to address the challenges that the teachers of the College of Technology in SSCT experienced as they conduct Flexible Learning sessions in this new modality of learning. “Several faculty are minimally capacitated in terms of strategies necessary for Flexible Learning.”, Dr Marilou Carnicer, COT Dean said during her opening talk. She also added, “… if we choose to embrace stagnation over development no amount of money or school reform is going to improve.”
CEA, USTP-CDO Revisit the Way They Mark Their Students' Performances
The College of Engineering and Architecture ( CEA) of USTP-CDO revisited the way they mark students' performances in a webinar by CiTL last March 17, 2021 via Zoom. CEA faculty members remained invigorated during the webinar as Engr Rojien Morcilla and Engr Lloyd Jhon Estampa discussed the Overview of the concepts of Grading Students’ Performance, University Grading Policy & Revised Policy of Flexible Learning Performance Innovative Tasks (PITs) includes alignment to Cos and POs etc. and Using the scoring rubrics for making PITs and Exams.
Jasaan Faculty Automate Rubrics
Thirty-one faculty members of USTP Jasaan Campus train for Automating Rubrics for Assessment and had a session on Sharing the Flexible Learning Teaching Experience. The participants converge last March 23, 2021 as Dr. Amparo Vedua-Dinagsao, CiTL Director and Engr Aileen Sieras, CiTL Program Head for Innovative Teaching Series, talk about Automating Rubrics for Assessment while Mr. Greg Pegarro and Engr Brian Genon share their best teaching practices on Using Technology Tools on to Engage Students and Strategies for Making Instructors Presence Felt respectively.
USTP-Claveria Gets Full Coverage
USTP Claveria campus got covered as CiTL brought Bringing Industry Experience into Flexible Learning by Creating a Scorm package with AMATROL content in USTeP , Automating Rubrics for Assessment and Sharing the Flexible Learning Teaching Experiences to the College of Engineering and Technology of USTP-Claveria last March 9, 2021. Thirty-two faculty members attended the said training which was aimed at helping and demonstrating to faculty members how to automate rubrics in MSExcel, Google Sheets and Google Forms.
Conceive. Design. Implement. Operate: A Teaching Learning Program
CiTL reintroduces the Conceive-Design-Implement-Operate (CDIO) framework to USTP-CDO Faculty members last March 18-19, 25-26, & 29, 2021. Twenty-five select faculty participated in the Advancing CDIO Training where they revisited the CDIO framework, academic programs and curricula and participated in various asynchronous workshop sessions. Aside from the workshops, the faculty members gave their reflections and insights on the important learning they have from the previous talks and discussions.

Design Thinking integrated into College of Technology Curriculum
John Dewey once said that if we teach today’s students as we taught yesterday’s, we rob them of tomorrow. With this being said, the faculty members of the College of Technology (CT) once again embraced Design Thinking during the Retooling Design Thinking and Strategic Approaches to Teaching Innovative Solution Courses trainings last February 10 & 11, 2021 with the goal of integrating the framework into the curriculum; the enhanced curriculum will enable the university to produce more innovative, empathetic, and creative graduates.
CiTL Welcomes New CiTL Coordinators
CiTL welcomes the new campus coordinators from Panaon, Oroquieta, and Jasaan. Ms Mary Jane Moralia ( Oroquieta), Ms April Dianne Caseros( Panaon), and Mr. Greg Pegarro (Jasaan) were recently designated as campus coordinators for CiTL in their respective campuses.

CiTL Director visits Deans
As soon as the year started, Dr Dinagsao visited the various Deans in CDO and Claveria campuses during the first two weeks of January. Dr Dinagsao’s visit was mainly aimed at discussing with the heads areas of concerns, some inputs and suggestions so that CiTL can serve the faculty force better this 2021.
