USTP CiTL Trains Region 10 HEIs through CHED
Regional Office’s ReFlex
In consortium with other leading Higher Educational Institutions of Region 10, USTP’s Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning had the opportunity to extend its services to other HEIs within and beyond the region. Through Zoom meetings and Facebook, the Retooling for Flexible Learning (ReFlex) and Teaching Strategies of Region 10 HEI Faculty was delivered via live sessions. Almost half of the webinars were delivered by members of CiTL.
Aligning the Outcomes and Revamping the Syllabus for the New Normal
Engr. Morcilla started with the preliminaries on important concepts and terminologies of the OBE Framework so viewers would easily follow the technicalities on the later part of the discussions.
Apart from aligning the outcomes, Engr. Morcilla expounded on how the syllabus may be redesigned to fit the Flexible Learning mode. Furthermore, they learned about how outcomes must be aligned to the mission, vision and niches of their respective institutions.
The session was participated by more than 800 viewers across regions of the country, and the viewers have expressed their gratitude to CHED Regional Office 10 for inviting Engr. Morcilla for tackling such complex subject matter with expertise, and in a simplistic approach.
Pavements of the Flexible Learning Path: Course Guides and Modules
The discussion started with the elements of effective course guides and course modules which then transitioned to a sharing of the generic template of the course guides and course modules designed by CiTL. The course guides and course modules were already designed to facilitate students’ learning even when offline.
As an additional content, Dr. Dinagsao also presented how the tools would be used to deliver distant learning strategies equivalent to the face-to-face strategies. The session was attended with more than 800 participants from HEI faculty members of different universities of the country.
Designing Assessments for the New Era of Teaching and Learning
More than 800 participants joined the session, and were very responsive during the talk and the real-time interactive polls; they also learned about how to make effective assessments that would fit the new normal.
As part of the usual CITL training, Dr. Dinagsao discussed, in details, the principles and methods of designing the assessment tools, succeeded by Engr. Morcilla’s sharing of how he would conduct his assessments online, and how he designed his performance innovative tasks contextualized into distance learning.
Crafting Rubrics: The Assessment’s Grail
Dr. Dinagsao began the session with how rubrics may be constructed to properly assess the students’ outputs, and how it will also pose a problem if not carefully constructed.
She explained, in details, the types of rubrics to be used depending on the nature of the assessment and the elements of a good rubric.
Mr. Narvaza then shared on the phases he would undergo in crafting the rubric and how he would use the rubric to feedback, gather suggestions from students, and processing students’ experiences.
The webinar was participated with 865 viewers from region 10 and other regions of the country.
Ensuring Students’ Growth through Feedback and Evaluation
The webinar started with Engr. Estampa with his discussion on the importance of feedback to students as part of formative assessment, and how proper feedback processes may be employed to assure students’ learning and success. Engr. Sieras, then contextualized Engr. Estampa’s discussions by showing authentic examples of her feed-backing process of her classes online, and how feed-backing had led to the advantage of students acquiring credentials that they could use for future purposes.
Faculty from different HEIs of various regions across the country received well the discussions. The session was participated by approximately more than 800 HEI faculty members.
